We have plans for many fun events that bring friend and families together and help children's cancer all at the same time.  The first such event was our 1st Annual Adult Co-ed Softball Tournament which was on July 4th 2009.  This was a day of fun, friendship and good-hearted sportsmanship.  We celebrated our concession stand's Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting this day as well, so there was much to enjoy in Winnebago on the 4th!!

Ladies Mushball 2010

Aiden the Fight for Life hosted its first Ladies Mushball Tournament on Sunday, June 6th at the Ken Hurd Bob Young Memorial Park in Winnebago.  Four teams participated in this free-spirited, non-conventional game.

While wearing floppy hats (instead of helmets), runners jumped rope after reaching first base, hula hooped at second, and popped a balloon by sitting on third.  Each fielder wore a feather boa, and the three lucky outfield players relaxed in lounge chairs until the ball was hit.

Play began at 9:00am and ended around 2:30pm with “Crull’s Crew” accepting the first place prize.  A huge “thank you” to all the participants who braved the “unknown” in our first Ladies Mushball Tournament.  Although there was some skeptism regarding the non-conventional aspect of the game (feather boas, hula hoops, etc), players indicated they wouldn’t change a thing.  They’re ready for a much bigger tournament next year as the word spreads of the fun to be had in our Ladies Mushball Tournament!

   Briggs & Al’s Walk/Run 2009

On Saturday, October 10th, family and friends participated in the 32nd annual Briggs & Al’s Walk/Run for Milwaukee Children’s Hospital.  The walk is the oldest walk/run in the state of Wisconsin and one of the largest combined 8K events in the U.S.  This year’s event welcomed 14,300 participants who braved the 40-degree temperature and a raw wind to support a hospital that has done so much for so many.

The walk/run has raised more than $10.3 million for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, with all gifts and pledges going directly to help children.  We’re proud to say that Aiden’s personal Briggs & Al’s web page at www.firstgiving.com/aidendoner raised more than $1,700 for the hospital who saved his life time-and-again.

Although the wind howled through the downtown streets of Milwaukee, we were dressed for the cold and had a great time walking to help this wonderful hospital.  Below, we have included some pictures of our day in Milwaukee.
